Brands Hatch: A British Motorsport Icon with Truck Racing Thrills
The story of Brands Hatch began in 1926, when a group of cyclists, led by Ron Argent, stumbled upon a bowl-shaped mushroom field near Brands Hatch Farm during a 125-mile tour. Recognizing the natural contours of the land, they gained permission to use it for practice, and the humble beginnings of what would become one of Britain’s most iconic circuits were set in motion.

Brands Hatch: A British Motorsport Icon with Truck Racing Thrills
With MV Truck Racing heading back to Brands Hatch for the opening round of the British Truck Racing Championship, we're taking a closer look at the circuit and its history.
Origins and Early Days
The story of Brands Hatch began in 1926, when a group of cyclists, led by Ron Argent, stumbled upon a bowl-shaped mushroom field near Brands Hatch Farm during a 125-mile tour. Recognizing the natural contours of the land, they gained permission to use it for practice, and the humble beginnings of what would become one of Britain’s most iconic circuits were set in motion.
Over the next decade, the site grew into a bustling hub for motorcycling and cycling events. By the 1930s, racing had become formalized, with local motorcycle clubs marking out tracks, but World War II intervened, leaving the site damaged. The war also saw the military takeover, halting development.

After World War II, Brands Hatch underwent a significant transformation. Racing returned, with the circuit quickly generating a profit. By 1960, the track’s operators expanded it into a Grand Prix loop, creating the now-famous 2.65-mile layout. Featuring fast, sweeping corners like Hawthorn Bend, Westfield, and the iconic Clearways leading into the final corner, it became an exciting challenge for drivers.
But it’s not just the big names and fast machines that make Brands Hatch special—it’s the diverse range of motorsport disciplines that the circuit has embraced over the years, with one thrilling form of racing taking centre stage: truck racing.
Over the years, truck racing has found a home at Brands Hatch, where the unique combination of speed, power, and agility has captured the imagination of fans. Known for its competitive edge and fierce rivalries, the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) regularly brings roaring giants of the racing world to the circuit, offering a spectacular show of truck racing at its finest.
Brands Hatch serves as the perfect backdrop for this high-octane discipline. The track's fast layout and challenging corners provide an exciting test of skill and precision, especially when these 1,300-horsepower machines are pushing the limits. Truck racing at Brands Hatch is a spectacle that never disappoints—bringing together drivers, teams, and fans to witness the thrilling battles and unpredictable moments that only truck racing can deliver.

For MV Truck Racing, the BTRC season’s opening and closing rounds at Brands Hatch are especially significant. These races are the bookends of the truck racing calendar, offering an opportunity to kick off the season with a bang and close it with a flourish. The team is preparing to take on the challenge once again, eager to replicate and build on their 2024 momentum
